Why do leaves change in the closing of the year?
Where do the birds go when they fly?
What does the owl say in her midnight song,
And why do the breezes sigh?
What causes the air to hold a brisk wind
That tickles our noses pink?
And why do the flowers wilt and fall
As fast as a rock does sink?
Ask your mother as I asked mine
And this is what she'll say;
"Why, it's the seasons doing there job,
Just as winter turns to spring in may."
I scratched my head and gazed out the window,
Watching the gray rain fall.
And I stayed there staring at the autumn splendor
Until I heard mother call.
