Now That I Am Older

Ever since I was a little thing
I'd dream there'd be snow,
With which I would play in
And build a snowman a hundred feet tall or so.
I'd gaze out the window
The night of Christmas Eve
And wish apon the brightest star,
That tonight snow would be.
And now that I am older
I still long for snow.
Not to play in anymore
But to watch it fall and flow.
I am also finding now
That I enjoy sitting cozy by the fire
And sipping my hot coffee,
Writing to my desire.
Now that I am older
I still don't mind the sight
Of nothing but dead branches,
And I don't say that without snow nothing right.
I'm glad that I'm older
And I am glad that I have love
For things that aren't pretty,
And for things that I used to dream of.
Now that I'm older,
I do still dream of things,
And I do love to sit by the fire,
I dream for the snow to come and sing.
